How it plays
A real-time switchyard puzzle: stamp each pulse at its gates in order, and send it home before the line jams.
Lightyard is a real-time switchyard puzzle. A stream of pulses arrives on a fixed schedule; the track is already laid, and you throw its levers while the stream is moving to send every pulse to the outlet with its shape. Many pulses carry marks, shown as chips riding behind them, and must be stamped at the matching gate before they may leave — a pulse with two marks takes them in order. A gate refuses any pulse it is not next in line to stamp, and an outlet refuses a pulse that still owes a mark. Gates take time to stamp, so feed one too hard and the line backs up into its emitter until the gauge overfills and the line jams. Every one of the 200 levels has a par: the fewest switch flips, found by an exhaustive solver. Clearing a level is the first test; clearing it at par is the puzzle.
- Marks stamped at gates, in order, from level 3
- Emitters that back up and jam, from level 5
- 200 levels in ten chapters, each with a solver-proven par

The loop
Every run follows one honest loop.
- 01Read the Next queue
- 02Throw each lever before its pulse arrives
- 03Stamp every mark in order
- 04Keep the gauges low
- 05Clear the yard
- 06Do it again at par.
What is inside
Inside Lightyard.
Every mark, in order
A marked pulse must be stamped at the matching gate before its outlet will take it, and a pulse with two marks must take them in order. A gate refuses a pulse it is not next in line to stamp. The chips behind each pulse, on the board and in the Next queue, show what it still owes.
Don't let it jam
Gates take time to stamp. Feed one gate too hard and the line backs up into the emitter. Every emitter has a gauge; when it overfills, the line jams and the run ends — so share the work between gates.
You switch while the line runs
You never build or draw track. The yard is laid, the stream arrives on a fixed clock, and the only thing you change is where the levers point. Swipe a lever, or tap the route you want.
Par is proven, not guessed
Each level's par is the fewest switch flips that can clear it, found by an exhaustive solver and checked on every build. Three stars means clearing at par, so it is always possible and never free.
Every jam explains itself
A wrong outlet, a refused gate, a pulse that skipped its stamp or an emitter that overfilled: the game names the cause, and a retry is immediate and free.
Specials are earned, never sold
New stars earn Sparks. Spend them on Peek, Hold or Shield. A run that uses one earns up to two stars, and nothing for sale changes a rule.
Why it exists
Built for a reason.
Most switch puzzles let you set the board and watch. Lightyard keeps the stream moving, makes every mark a stamp that has to come in order, and measures each clear against a proven minimum — so a clean clear and a perfect one are different achievements.
Made for puzzle players who like timing and planning together, and want an exact standard to chase with no ads, lives or energy anywhere in the game.
