Daily sort puzzle and par: how Decant’s free Daily works

Decant deals one board a day, the same for every player, and ranks the attempt by the fewest pours. The Daily is free and has no ads or timers. This page explains how the board is chosen, what “ranked” means, what par is, and how to approach the day’s board.

Decant is free on iPhone & Android, with no ads.

Want to see today’s board? Play it free in your browser. Browser play is unranked practice.

A new Daily arrives at 00:00 UTC. It is dealt for that date, so every player gets the same tubes in the same order, and it is proved solvable before it is offered. The Daily is never one of the 180 ladder boards or a practice board, so nothing you have already solved gives you a head start.

Difficulty changes from day to day. Some days the board is gentle with fewer colors, and some days it is severe with ten. The screen shows the difficulty and color count before you start, so you know what you are walking into.

Ranking needs no account. If rankings cannot be reached, the board still plays, unranked. The reset is firm: a ranked run you start on one UTC day and do not finish before the next begins is not ranked on either day. Finishing the Daily builds your day streak.

Perfect is the fewest pours that can sort the board. For a Daily, the board is solved by a search before it ships, and the shortest route found sets it. Par is the goal a few pours above it: Perfect plus 15%, and never fewer than two extra. A finish within Perfect plus 35% (at least four extra) is Close to par. The Decant app shows Par and Close to par from version 1.0.4 (the browser version shows them now); before that it shows Perfect alone. Older archived Dailies show a single Target instead: the reference route they were published with, which is not guaranteed to be the minimum.

Par does not decide your place, because the ranking is by pour count against other players. It is your own yardstick, and it decides the weekly league: a ranked Daily finished at Par or better earns a point for weeks starting 26 October 2026 or later (earlier weeks needed Perfect). A few pours above Perfect on a hard day is a strong result, and a large gap means there is a cleaner line to find. When you finish, you can share your result as an image card.

Rehearse it first. The browser version deals the same board for the same date, and replays there are free and unranked. Try a line, learn where it breaks, then take the ranked attempt in the app.
• 02
Check the difficulty first.Severe days deserve the reading routine in the dead ends guide. Gentle days reward a quick, tidy solve.
• 03
Spend undos on decisions. You have three, and they remove the pour from your count. Use them when you see you chose the wrong fork, not for a slip you could simply avoid.
• 04
Cut pours that change nothing.Every pour counts. Ask of each one whether it finished a tube, uncovered a useful color or made room. If not, skip it.

Pro is a one-time Decant unlock or a StackForge Play Pass. Past Dailies opened from the archive are unranked and do not count toward your streak. The full tier breakdown is in the Decant guide.
